 NEWSLETTER 1

September 2017

Welcome to our first newsletter. Organising for the 40th South Island Colgate Games is well underway. We have a great, enthusiastic committee who are working hard to ensure you have a great experience when visiting Timaru.

Our logo for these games was designed by Nicole Jones, an Art Student at ARA in Timaru.

The Colgate Games are being held on the Trust Aoraki All Weather Track Facility at Aorangi Park, off Morgans Road, west Timaru. There are a number of parking areas on Aorangi Park, and also quite a bit of street parking on Mountainview Road, bordering the back of the track facility. All parking is within easy walking distance to the track.

Accommodation

Accommodation is going to be tight in Timaru, we have been made aware that motor racing is also on in Timaru on the same weekend. But Timaru is fortunate to have many smaller towns in close vicinity that also offers a variety of accommodation in form of motels, camping grounds, some hotels:

Temuka and Pleasant Point are both 15 minutes from track, Geraldine 30 minutes north, Waimate 30 minutes south, Fairlie 40 minutes, Ashburton is just under an hour’s drive.

Timaru also has three boarding school hotels that could be an option for clubs

Timaru Boys High School, Timaru Girls High School, Craighead Diocesan Girls School.

There is also Waihi Preparatory School in Winchester with a boarding hostel.

Souvenir Tees

Our Souvenir Tees are red with the above logo on the front which will be by sublimated printing. There will be an order form for online ordering of these coming out soon, and orders will close mid November, to ensure we get them made in time. There will be a limited number of tees available at the games, otherwise you will have to place orders for them to be posted to you after the games.

A limited number of Souvenir Blankets will also be available and these will also be able to be ordered online.
